Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELLENE JEANNE GORDON On a sunny Sunday morning on September 24, 2000, in Keewatin, Ontario, Ellene, 88, of Winnipeg, formerly of Powerview, Manitoba, suddenly passed away in the arms of her son Jack. Mom was born in Fort Alexander, Manitoba on February 6, 1912. She was the 11th of a large family of eight other brothers and three sisters. She attended the residential school system. The transition from a small log cabin to a large residential school and boarding house made life difficult. She was a hardworking, spiritual, caring lady who was completely unselfish and devoted to her family. She was a multi talented and gifted person who was a superb cook, wonderful seamstress, who also had an uncanny "green thumb" influence on plants. Mom thrived on being with people and in particular her nieces, nephews, and special friends and neighbours who meant the world to her. They in turn were always there for her. A very special thanks to Terry (Bev, Debbie, Yvonne, Priscilla), Caroline, Ted, Phillip, Mary and Barb, and others who will not be forgotten. Mom greatly appreciated June, who was often present and helpful particularly after the loss of our sister Iris in 1999. Mom was predeceased by the love of her life, husband Charles Munro (1979) daughter Iris (Kozielec, 1999) infant daughter Marie Elaina; siblings and brothers and sisters-in-law. Mom is survived by son Jack (Adelle) Gordon; daughter Karen (Bob) Kolesar; son-in-law Gerry (Kozielec) grandchildren, Dale (Denise), Marilyn (Greg), Patsy (Dennis), Donna (Mike), Kim, Kevin (Pasa), Ross, Jeremy; six great-grandchildren; brother Albert Fontaine and sisters-in-law, Emily Fontaine and Alice Gordon. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 28 at Notre Dame du Laus Roman Catholic Church, Powerview, at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Beaudry of Holy Redeemer and Fr. Chartier of Notre Dame du Laus officiating. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Phillip Fontaine, Ted Fontaine and grandchildren, Dale Gordon, and Kevin, Ross and Jeremy Kozielec. DEAR LORD Put your arms around her Hold her in Your tender care Make up to her for all she suffered And all she had to bear She went through so much in silence Her spirits didnt bend She faced her pain with courage Until the very end It broke our hearts to lose her But she didnt go alone For part of us went with her The day God called her home.
