WILLIAM (BILL) SHMIGELSKY On Monday, September 25, 2000, peacefully at home at the age of 85 years, William (Bill) beloved husband of Anne, passed away with his family at his side. Besides his loving wife of 64 years, he leaves to cherish his memory, four sons and two daughters; Robert (Audrey), Ronald (Hazel), Winnipeg; Martin, Peachland, B.C.; Sidney (Elsie), Pincher Creek, Alta.; Sylvia Shmigelsky, Pincher Creek, Alta.; Iris Warren (Bill), Victoria, B.C.; 26 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lynn Taylor, Ollie Nagurski (Eddie), Elsie Soltys; two brothers, Gene and Walter; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by one brother Mike, two sisters, Anne and Mary and in-laws, Alex, Walter, Olga and Kathy. Bill was in Vita, Man., on April 15, 1915. He was self-employed as a carpenter and together with his wife owned and operated Shady Lawn Motel and Restaurant in Vita until 1969. He semi-retired to Winnipeg where he continued his carpentry, along with his fur-buying hobby. Gedo was a devoted husband and father and a very loving grandfather, who will be sadly missed. Prayers will be said on Thursday, September 28 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Skrumeda and Father Alexander Harkavyi officiating. Special thanks to Home Care Services provided by Mike, Phil, Anne and Julianne for their kind, compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or a charity of ones choice.
