BRYNHILDUR (BINNA) JOHANNESSON
On Sunday, September 24, 2000, with her family at her side, Binna, aged 87, passed away at the Health Sciences ªCentre.
Binna is survived by her loving husband ªVictor; son Franklin; daughter-in-laDora w Barbara; two grandchildren, Cory (Star) and Crystal; one sister (Bill) Oddliefson; three sisters-in-law, Dagmar Cosford, Ragna Vopni and Olga Johannesson. She was predeceased by her parents, Franklin and Aldis Peterson; two brothers, Ragnar Lindal and Peter Peterson; one sister Thora Johannesson and brothers-in-law, Valdi Johannesson, Thorberg Johannesson, Karl Vopni and Bing Cosford.
Binna was born on the old Peterson family homestead in the Vidir district in 1913 and spent most of her married life there. As a teenager, Binna took piano lessons. Fond of music, her skills as a pianist stood her in good stead. When she joined the Vidir Ladies Aid she was their pianist for many years. While growing up, she loved working with her father and brothers on the farm. For four years, Binna worked at Betel as a practical nurse.
In 1944, when she and Victor were married, they took over the Peterson farm and farmed and lived there until retiring to Sunrise Lodge in Arborg in 1996.
She was a very caring wife, mother and grandmother. Many fond memories will be cherished by her family.
Binnas retirement years have enabled her to make many new friends at the Sunrise Lodge in Arborg. She will be sadly missed by friends and family.
Binna has been cremated and her ashes will be be laid to rest at the Vidir Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Vidir Community Hall, Pastor O. Christensen will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Vidir Community Hall.
