Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAISY EMILIA JONASSON September 2, 1904 - September 25, 2000 Peacefully, on Monday, September 25, 2000 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital, Gimli, with her family at her side, Daisy Emilia Jonasson (nee Davidson) passed away at the age of 96 years. Daisy was born in Winnipeg in 1904 and spent her younger years in Gull Harbour, MB, then later moved to Riverton where she spent the rest of her life. Moms first love was music. She studied piano in Winnipeg and played at the Old Gaiety Theatre for silent movies. Her livelihood also consisted of playing in three musical bands, including The Murray Anderson Band, The Slingerland Band and Johnny and his Musical Mates. Her musical talents also led her to record a cassette at Fine Country Folk Studios when she was 80 years old. She even played on her 96th birthday. Mom was very creative by nature. She could always make something out of nothing and her door was always open to everyone. Mom also had an incredible knack for gardening. Her yard was full of beautiful flowers including her favourite, pansies. She used to press them in books and set them inside framed photographs. Her hobbies also included taking pictures, she always had a camera by her side. We are thankful for the millions of photographic memories. We dont think a day went by that mom wasnt perfectly dressed with matching earrings, lipstick and nail polish. Even on special occasions she had appropriate attire. Mom will be dearly missed and remembered by her two sons, Lloyd whom she resided with and Norman of Victoria, B.C; five daughters, Lorna Patterson of Calgary, Alta., Oskie Vidalin, Sylvia (Harvey) Renaud, Shirley Ann (Johnny) Sigurdson, all of Riverton and Lillian (Kristinn) Thorarinson of Saskatoon, Sask; 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Daisy was predeceased by her husband Manni (Gramman), an infant child Daniel; sister Lily Jonasson; sons-in-law, Tom Patterson, John Vidalin and a daughter-in-law Jean Jonasson. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church with Pastor Otto Christiansen officiating. Viewing will take place one hour prior to services. Cremation will follow services with a private family interment of ashes to take place in the Riverton Community Cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers will be Moms grandsons, David Vidalin, Nils Thorarinson, Gary Thorarinson, Ryan Renaud, Kim Renaud, Leon Renaud, Darren Sigurdson, Darryl Renaud, Brian Thorarinson and Perry Patterson. The family would like to thank Dr. S. V. Patel and the nursing staff at the Johnson Memorial Hospital, Gimli. Also a special thanks to the wonderful ladies at Homecare in Riverton. For those who wish, donations can be made in Daisys memory to the Riverton Piano Fund, Box 428, Riverton, Man. R0C 2R0 or the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church. In Heaven there is a beautiful Angel Shes only been there since Monday Our hearts are sad and broken Because she couldnt stay Fluff up the clouds and keep her, Lord Gently in your care Place the shiny halo Softly in her hair Godda nott elsku, Momma (Amma). Well miss you and love you always Gilbart Funeral Home, in care of arrangements.

I just came across this obituary. I'm busy wiping sad and happy tears as I read about one of the most beautiful people in my memory! Loved her like an aunty. See ya later Aunty Daisy. Keep playing that piano. I'll be listening for it when I pass on to our next phase of existence...With Love, Allan XO - Posted by: Al Johnson (Long Time Friend & Admirer !) on: Apr 17, 2023
