Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAZEL ETHEL EVANSON On Tuesday, September 26, 2000, at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Hazel Ethel Evanson passed away at the age of 82 years. She was predeceased by her husband Ted; her parents Richard and Lily Brown; two sisters, Gladys McKinstry and Thelma Lund; and five brothers, Arthur, Harold, Ernest, Douglas and Wallace Brown. She is survived by two daughters, Earla (Clarence) Titchkosky of Morden, Man., and Helen (Carl) Rufelds of Fredericton, N.B.; a brother Lloyd (Jean) Brown of Trenton, Ont.; and sisters-in-law, Clara Brown of Surrey, B.C., Marge Brown of Winnipeg, Man., and Beatrice Brown of Portage la Prairie, Man. She is also survived by grandchildren, Debbie (Brian) Hodgson, Lori (Bruce) Robinson, Kurt Rufelds, Carla Hogan-Rufelds (Dan Hogan) and Shelly (Ron) Love; 11 great-grandchildren and many caring nieces, nephews and friends. Hazel was born March 22, 1918, in Portage la Prairie where she was raised and received her education. She married Ted Evanson in July of 1941. They resided in Fort William, Ont., from 1956 to 1970, enjoying many wonderful weekends out on their special lake, fishing. As long as she lived, a good feed of pickerel was Moms favourite treat. Hazel and Ted moved to Winnipeg in 1970. Hazel enjoyed her work at Trainor Laboratories up to her retirement in 1983. She was able to enjoy many healthy and happy years of retirement. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 30, at 11:00 a.m. at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Rd. S., Portage la Prairie, with Rev. Julie Baker officiating. Interment is to follow at the family plot at Hillside Cemetery, Portage. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses on 4E at the St. Boniface Hospital for the wonderful care Mom received over the past months. Also, thanks to Lillian who has been our "special sunshine" for the past three weeks. The family would also like to thank Moms relatives and friends of Mike Sumka Place for their love and support. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Hazels memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, Man., R3C 2B7. A tree will be planted and cared for in memory of Hazel at Evergreen Memorial Gardens by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel who are entrusted with the arrangements.
