ADALEEN (AD) ANNIE GUDMUNDSON (nee DORY) Peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2000, at the Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg, Adaleen (Ad) Gudmundson, of Ashern, passed away, aged 83 years. Mom was born at Mossbank, Sask., on October 14, 1916. The family lived at Courval, Sask. Later, in the 1930s, the Dory family moved to Manitoba. Together, Adaleen and Barneys travels took them to Alberta and British Columbia, and they finally returned to settle in their present home in Ashern, Man. Mom was known for her thoughtfulness and for her love of conversation with many people. She took great interest in the Legion because of her brothers service in the Second World War. Ad enjoyed social functions in the community, especially at the Legion. Another highlight in Ads life was the September long weekend parade and Mini Threshermens Reunion, where she enjoyed modelling and entertaining people while wearing her collection of historic attire. Mom will be sadly missed by her daughter Sharon (Elmer) Lutz of Ashern; her son Jim (Susanne) Gudmundson of Legal, Alta.; her grandchildren, Pam Rohl of Ashern, Brad (Kim) Lutz of Cayman Islands, Kirby Gudmundson of Edmonton, Alta., and Michael Gudmundson of Vancouver, B.C., along with two great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Regan Rohl; one sister Evelyn McCreary of Edmonton and many nieces, nephews and good friends. She was predeceased by her husband Barney in 1990; parents William and Amanda Dory, along with five brothers, Herman, Ken, Mel, Harvey and George and a sister Eileen. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, at the Ashern United Church with Rev. Melanie Kauppila officiating. Interment to follow in the Col Clough Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Arnold Hallson, Harold Lutz, Daryl Dory, Bill Ebbers, Paul Johnson and John Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Regan Rohl and Scott Cameron. Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern and the Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg for the kindness they showed to Mom and to our family. Special thanks to Lori and Wendy at the ICU in Winnipeg and to John and Glen at the Arnason Funeral Home for your kindness and understanding ways. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #57, Ashern, Man., R0C 0E0. Arrangements by: Arnason Funeral Homes Ltd. Ashern - Lundar (204) 768-2072
