Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMIRIAM (Mickey) SHEFRIN Peacefully on September 25, 2000, Mickey passed away surrounded by her loving family. Mickey was predeceased by her loving husband, Conny, in 1999. She leaves to mourn her children Joel (Kathy), Claretta (Morley) Wiseman, Shelley (Bill) Sklover, Shaun, and Bruce (Rene Vielfaure) and her grandchildren Mark and Allan Shefrin and Jana Sklover. Mom had a unique and special relationship with her children and grandchildren and will be forever remembered for her friendship, love and devotion to her family. She was especially proud of their achievements. Mickey is also survived by her sister Judith (Bert) Smollan, her brother Archie (Doba) Baker, her sister-in-law Lil Baker, her sister-in-law Pauline (Morris) Nudler and numerous relatives. She was predeceased by her parents, Anne and Alexander Baker, and her brother, Harry Baker. Mom was born in Veregin, Saskatchewan on January 14, 1923 and moved to Winnipeg as a young girl. On July 1, 1944, Mickey and Conny were married. They spent the next 54 years in a very close and loving relationship. Their summers at the family cottage in Gimli gave them great pleasure and provided their family with wonderful memories. Mom was a kind and loving woman with a keen sense of humour and sharp wit. She put the needs of her husband, children and grandchildren before her own needs. It was her greatest pleasure to open her home and cottage to all. Friday night and holiday dinners in her home will be fondly remembered by many. During the past four years, Mickey maintained her independence with pride and dignity despite her physical limitations. Funeral services were held at Rosh Pina Synagogue on September 27. Honourary pallbearers were Allan Shefrin, Rene Vielfaure, Gwen Goldberg, Ruby Gutkin, Morris Nudler and Fred Funk. Active Pallbearers were Mark Shefrin, Morley Wiseman, Bill Sklover, Aaron Nudler, Jeff Stern and Bruce Granove. The family expresses their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Meyrowitz, Lori (VON), the Emergency and ICU units at Seven Oaks Hospital and especially her caregivers, Erma Erfe and Remedios DeGuzman. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice.
