Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMATTHEW SAVAS PLETT LAURENDEAU September 27, 2000 - September 27, 2000 Though we will never understand why, our son, Matthew Savas, was taken to heaven to be with Jesus before we had the chance to raise him. Matthew was in our arms for only a short time, but we watched him grow, waited for him, and loved him long before he was born. For three weeks, we watched him on the ultrasound screen as he did all the things a baby does within the womb. We trusted that, through it all, God would guard our little baby. That promise has not been broken, even though our son has died. His life may have been short, but Matthew has taught us so much about what is important in life. We have been given an opportunity to love unconditionally, share in the love and compassion of those around us, and trust God in ways that we have never done before. Our other two children, Nicole and Julie have become more precious to us than we could have imagined. We know that Matthew has touched many people around us these past few weeks. Though words seem so inadequate at this time, we feel that we must somehow express our gratitude to the special people in our lives. To our families, who surrounded us with love, cared for our daughters, and let us cry out to them for support. To our beautiful daughters, who taught us so much about the faith and wisdom of children. To our friends at Good News Fellowship, who prayed for us day and night, and showed us the importance of faith in God. To the incredible staff on the fifth floor of the Womens Pavillion at Health Science Centre, who cared for all our needs, and brought us through the hardest days of our lives. To our friends at Bison Transport and Veterans Affairs, who supported us, prayed for us, and cared about our loss. To all the friends who showed up day after day, and let us be vulnerable in their presence. To doctor Savas Menticoglou, whose incredible wisdom, compassion, and concern for our child, helped us deal with our loss. To all those who shared with us their own losses and helped us understand the power of healing. Thank you. Everyone who wishes to worship with us and bid a farewell to our son, Matthew Savas Plett Laurendeau, is welcome to attend a memorial service at Good News Fellowship, 891 St. Marys Road at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2000. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to account 701383 at Caisse St. Boniface. Money raised will be used toward further research in fetal medicine. Matthew will be missed by his parents, sisters, Grandma and Grandpa Plett, Grandma and Grandpa Laurendeau, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. Heather, Marcel, Nicole, and Julie Laurendeau.
