GARTH BURNS Garth Burns passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 28, 2000 at the Victoria General Hospital with his family at his side. His memory will be cherished forever by his wife of 50 years, Susan "Alice"; his children, Marty (Murray) Dahl, Terry (Sue) Burns, David Burns and Susan Burns; his grand-children, who he loved dearly, Matthew, Terrin, Jenna, Stephanie, Jayde, Connor and Mackenzie; as well as his nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Jack and Martha; his brothers, Ed, Bill and Harry; and his sisters, Stella and Kathleen. Garth was born in Winnipeg on March 26, 1921. He and Susan celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on July 1, 2000 at a party with their family. Garths first love was his family. He enjoyed celebrating family events at Martys, visiting Terry and family in Regina, Sunday visits with David and his playful bantering with Susan. Garth also had a love for sports. As a young man he played hockey and in retirement tried to catch every sporting event on television. Garth will be remembered for his great sense of humour. He always enjoyed a good joke. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Victoria Hospital Staff for their care and patience during his brief stay. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Garths memory to Cancer Care Manitoba, Box 2248 Stn Main, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9 as tokens of remembrance. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 3, at 3:00 p.m. from Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
