CAROLE JOYCE DECOOKE (nee BOUCHER) Peacefully, from a lengthy illness after a courageous battle with cancer. It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Carole J. Decooke, on Wednesday, September 27, 2000, at the Grace General Hospital, at the young age of 61 years. Surviving is her loving husband Jerry of 39 years of marriage; two daughters, Linda Decooke and Sharon Czastkiewicz and son-in-law Jody and granddaughter Jenna; sister Sandra Traynor, all from Winnipeg, and Bill Carey and Anne from Regina, Sask. Carole was predeceased by her parents Lorne and Ellen Boucher of Winnipeg; sister-in-law Germaine Carey of Regina; son-in-law Bill Traynor of Winnipeg and our son Alan Decooke and Jerrys parents, Cyril and Victoria. Carole was born in Winnipeg on May 31, 1939, and completed her education in the Norwood district. She also graduated from the School of Nursing in Brandon, Man. She commenced employment at the Altona and Brandon Hospitals and then joined the Grace Hospital staff (formerly on Arlington Street). Carole worked for many years in the hospital nursery, a job she tremendously enjoyed. She later decided to be a stay-at-home mom to raise her family, Linda, Alan and Sharon. After a number of years, Carole decided to take up employment with Woolco and later rejoined the new Wal-Mart at Unicity until her illness, a job she enjoyed doing with all her friends. Friends from St. Chads Anglican Church, St. James Christian Centre and fellow employee associates from Wal-Mart Unicity will always remember Carole for her happy smile and humour, and her willingness to give a helping hand. Relatives and friends are invited and may call for viewing on Sunday evening, October 1, between 7:00 and 8:30 p.m., in the Chapel of Memories in Wojciks Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Ave. at Sharp Boulevard. Caroles funeral service will be held on Monday, October 2, at 1:00 p.m., in the Deer Lodge United Church, 2093 Portage Ave. at Belvidere Street. Interment will follow in the Leatherdale Gardiner - Waverley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1501 Waverley St., Winnipeg, Man. Our family wishes to thank all the countless doctors and nurses at Grace Hospital for their loving care and compassion, especially to the nursing staff on 2 south west ward that made her feel more comfortable. A special thank you to Dr. Pat Harris, Dr. Barber and Dr. Coodin for all their professional help. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, a donation may be made in Caroles memory to the Oncology Department - Grace Hospital, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, Man., R3J 3M7. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away. You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting Until the very end. God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you, And whispered, "Come with Me." You didnt deserve what you went through So He took you home to rest. Gods garden must be beautiful For He only takes the best. You suffered much in silence Your spirit did not bend You faced your pain with courage Until the very end. You tried so hard to stay with us Your fight was all in vain God took you in His loving arms And freed you from your pain. A golden heart stopped beating Two gentle hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Your presence we all miss. Your memory we treasure. Well hold you Mom in our hearts And memories forever. WOJCIKS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
