CAROL ANN SNYDER On Sunday, September 24, 2000, after a long courageous battle with cancer Carol Ann Snyder of Southport, MB, beloved wife of Fred Snyder, passed away at the age of 46 years. Carol was born on January 1, 1954, daughter of Leslie and Ann Sherman in Winnipeg where she was raised and received her education. She then started her career with Shell Canada, both in Winnipeg and Portage la Prairie, ending her employment with Shell in 1997. She then became employed as a bookkeeper with West-End Auto until her illness forced her to retire in June of this year. In 1994 she married Fred Snyder and they made their home in the Southport District. Carol loved horses and was a member of the Quarter Horse Association. Her favourite pastime was training and riding horses. She especially enjoyed showing Pat and Mike, her team of Percheron horses. She would often give sleigh and wagon rides. Carol also had a passion for writing poetry. Her hobbies included knitting, collecting unicorns, candles, tea cups, blue mountain pottery, Occupied-Japan figurines and spoons. Predeceased by her father Leslie, she leaves to mourn her passing her mother Ann Sherman; her stepfather Ron Gregg of Winnipeg; her husband Fred of Southport; one son Jason (Jennifer) Neufeld of the Yukon, grandson Seth of Portage la Prairie; daughter Andrea (Craig) Gould, grandchildren, Candace and Jacob of Falmouth, NS; daughter Nanette (Shane) Estabrooks of Thompson, MB, grandchildren, Latasha and Andrew; daughter Kori Snyder (Vince), grandchildren, Sasha and Desire, all of Winnipeg. Also surviving is one brother John (Sue-Ann) Sherman of Winnipeg; one sister Jan (Abe) Neufeld of St. Francois Xavier; one special nephew (like her own son) Derek; mother and father-in-law, Milton and Muriel Snyder; sister-in-law Marjorie and Donnie Russell; brother-in-law Jerry Slaunewhite, all of Nova Scotia, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial service was held in the Chapel of the Omega Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ross Taylor officiating, on Thursday, September 28 at 2:30 p.m. Reading was given by Bill Chiponski. Soloist Doug Hyde sang "Jesus Its Me Again" and "Why Me Lord" with Coralie Arundell presiding at the organ. Urn Bearer was Carols son Jason Neufeld. Attending as a group were staff from Jefferies Vegetable Growers. The family considered all of Carols friends attending the service as the Honorary Pallbearers. Interment will take place at a later date. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave., E., Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 0K8 or to the Grace General Hospital, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB, R3J 3M7.
