FLORENCE ALECK (nee FIRMAN) 1904 - 2000 The Lord took our dear Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother gently home to her eternal rest on Friday, September 20th, at 11:05 a.m. at the Maples Personal Care Home. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in August 1968; her two brothers, Paul and John and step-brother Nick; three sisters, Stella, Anne and Margaret. Florence is survived by two daughters, Evelyn (Harry) Edwards, Vivian (Elven) Simcoe and son Joseph (Mary). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Terry Lynne (Michael) Bellhouse, Reid Edwards, Grant (Asha) Edwards, Leslie (Terry) Thingelstad of Norway, Europe, Greg (Darcy) Simcoe of The Caymen Islands, Wayne (Martha) Aleck, Cynthia (Larry) Dykun, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Our Mother was a loving and caring person. She would do anything to help her family and was especially kind to her neighbors. She was a hard worker at home and at Great West Life Insurance Co., where she was employed for 30 years. She was a member of the Womens Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Ukrainian Legion, Br. #141. She was a faithful member of St. Edwards Church until her health failed her. Florence was born in Gimli, MB and grew up in Husavick. She married Joseph Aleck in April, 1924 and they made their home in Wpg. She also enjoyed her many travels in Canada, the U.S.A. and to Norway, Europe. While there she formed a special bond with her great-granddaughter Lisa. A special thanks to Dr. Louis Chung and #1 West staff at the Maples Personal Care Home where she often referred to her care-givers as Honey. We thank you for your special care and kindness shown to our Mother during the past 6 years. With respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Ash Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Florences memory to a charity of ones choice. The Lord has promised to all who believe in His atoning death. Today you will be with me in Paradise Luke 23:43 CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements - 586-8044.
