ALBERT SIGURDUR ALBERTSON Peacefully on Saturday, September 30, 2000 at the Pine Falls Hospital, Albert Albertson passed away in his 90th year. Bert leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 66 years, Heida; and three sons and their families, Bert Jr. of Grand Bend, Ont., his daughters Susan and Carole-Anne and grand daughters Alexandria and Melanie; Herb (Laurel) of Winnipeg and their family, Kari (Daniel) Kiazyk, Cindy, and Eric; Ken (Donna) of Leduc, Alta. and their family, Matthew and Holly. He is also survived by one brother, Bjorgvin Albertson. Bert was predeceased by his parents, Helgi and Dorothy and one brother, Peter. Bert spent his younger years in the Gimli area. In 1934 he met and married the love of his life, Heida Holm. Heidas health deteriorated first and she has been a resident of the Sunnywood Personal Care Home in Pine Falls for the last four years. His family had so much admiration for the loyalty and loving care he showed to Mom over the last difficult years. With his health in serious decline he drove almost every day to be with Mom for lunch. Bert was a mechanic by trade but excelled at other trades. He used to say he was a "Jack of all trades and master of none" but he was being modest. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was very proud of his family and their accomplishments. Bert instilled a good work ethic in his sons and praised them when a job was well done. The family would like to express special thanks to the residents of Pineview Lodge and the staff at Sunnywood for the kindness and understanding shown to our Dad. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 3 at 2:00 p.m. from the Church of the Advent, Pine Falls, Man., with Mr. Bradley Robertson officiating.
