Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH STREMPLER Our dear wife, mother and grandmother, Elizabeth (Neufeld) Strempler was born on May 14, 1940 in Schoenhorst, Ukraine. Her parents were Heinrich and Margaretha (Bergen) Neufeld. In 1943 the Neufeld family fled to Germany and arrived in Canada in 1947 with the kind help of the F. Letkeman family. Elizabeth received her education in Steinbach, Man., and was an active member of the Steinbach Mennonite Church until she married Guenter Strempler of Winnipeg, Man. on July 21, 1962. She worked in the Royal Bank until 1966 and then stayed home to raise her children Hilde, David and Rudy and be a support to her husband Guenter. In 1990 she was diagnosed with a neurological disorder but it was not until May 1997 that she received the dreaded news that she has ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig disease. By then she was confined to a wheelchair and required constant and intensive care which was provided lovingly by her husband Guenter and her home care worker Mary Braun. On September 26, 2000, she was admitted to Concordia Hospital. She was too weak to fight the onset of pneumonia and passed away peacefully on September 30, 2000 surrounded by her family. We appreciate the loving care provided by her home care worker and friend Mary Braun, Dr. Chris Loepp and the nursing staff at Concordia Hospital. We are also very grateful for the prayerful support from our family, friends and members of the Douglas Mennonite Church. Elizabeth is survived by her husband Guenter; her children Hilde Strempler of Winkler, David and Nichole Strempler and Rudy and Renee Strempler of Winnipeg, her three grandsons Jordan, Nathan and Jonathan,; three sisters, Margaret Dyck, Helen and Corny Friesen, Tina and Abe Hildebrand, many nephews and nieces and very special friends, Mary, Hein and Damaris Braun. She was predeceased by her parents, Heinrich and Margaretha Neufeld, tow brothers and one sister in infancy, sister Neta and husband Peter Neufeld and brother-in-law, Jacob Dyck. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at the Douglas Mennonite Church, 1517 Rothesay Street with interment to follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Viewing on Monday from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:15 at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. and at the church prior to the service. Donations may be made to the Bethania Personal Care Home or Mennonite Central Committee. Rest in Peace The loving family
