THELMA SMALE (nee STEWART) With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Thelma Smale on October 2, 2000 at Riverview Health Centre. Thelma was born in Souris, Manitoba on January 9, 1913 to William and Elizabeth Stewart. Mum has gone to join her family, brothers Cecil and Leslie Stewart, sisters Edith Best, Doris Patterson and Dorothy Scott. She was predeceased by our father Stan Smale. Mum was a kind and caring individual who gave generously and expected very little in return. She had a wonderful sense of humour and received most of her pleasure in caring and cooking for her family. Thursday night bingo with her friends was a highlight in her week. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Pat (Geo.) Lafrance, and Joan (Geo.) Benstead. She was a wonderful and supportive Nana to her grandchildren Sheri and Darcy Lafrance, Kim (Theresa) and Randy (Debby) Benstead, and a very special Meme to her great-grandchildren Erica Benstead, Crystal, Michelle, and Keinan Lafrance. In addition she will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. The family extends gratitude to the staff at Riverview Health Centre for the compassion shown towards Mum and our family. Flowers are gratefully declined, however donations in her memory may be made to a charity of ones choice. Cremation has taken place and in accordance with her wishes a private service will be held with interment to follow in Souris, Manitoba.
