HELEN ESTELLE LAZAROWICH (nee POLINSKI) On Friday, September 29, 2000, surrounded by her family, Mom passed away peacefully at the Lakeshore General Hospital, aged 83 years. Mom was born August 5, 1917 at Mulvihill, MB. She was raised and attended school there. She enjoyed gardening, her farm, and raising her children. In 1973, she retired from the farm and worked in Winnipeg, but returned to Ashern to work at Ashern B.A. and Chicken Delight until her retirement. Mom loved visiting, going to Bingo, attending the Senior Leisure Club at the manor, card parties at her home, and in later years, the Adult Day Program. Mom especially loved her great-grandson Matthew. She leaves to mourn her children, Marie Pohl of Gladstone, MB, Cycelia Lazarowich of Winnipeg, Anna Brandstrom (Neil) of Eriksdale, MB, Monica Lazarowich-Crawford (Robert) of Spruce Grove, AB, and Bill Lazarowich of Ashern, MB; two grandchildren, Leana Smith (Brian) and Lori Brandstrom (Terry) and one great-grandson Matthew Smith. She also leaves to mourn one brother Don Polinski of Gladstone, also many special friends, nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband, her son-in-law Henry Pohl, her sisters, Mary, Victoria, Tillie, Tenie, and brothers, Stanley and Joe. Respecting her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 4 at 11:00 a.m. in the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ashern, with Father Ernest Kamath officiating. Everyone in attendance can consider themselves honorary pallbearers. Special thanks to Dr. Lee Isaacs, nurses and staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital, Patsy Klyne and the home care workers for the wonderful care Mom received.
