GERALD STANLEY (JOE) BLOCK Peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday, October 2, 2000, Joe passed away at the Health Sciences Centre. Joe was born on August 11, 1933, in Winnipeg. His early youth was spent in Elie, Manitoba. He entered the plumbing trade which took him to Dauphin, Manitoba, where he met Marion and they were married in 1954. Joe worked for Powers Regulator Company for 13 years. He was then employed as the Manager of the Physical Plant for Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg. Joe held this position for 25 years until his retirement in 1995. His favourite pastimes were golfing, curling and travelling to new and interesting place. Joe is survived by his wife Marion; his four sons, Christopher (Lee), Kenneth (Evelyn), Kevin (Blanche) and Clayton (Lynn) his sister, Shirley Hamilton; two special nieces, Janis Koskie and Leslie Saunders; and by his brother-in-law, Keith McQuay and his family. He was predeceased by his mother Edna Irene Block. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 5 at 2:30 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Highway 1 East at Navin Road, with Rev. Ron Long officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 2B7. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Warren and staff at Health Sciences Centre and also a special thanks to Geri Molson for all her love and support in this trying time.
