Date of Passing: Sep 30, 2000
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT UNRAU Quietly after a lengthy illness, Albert Unrau passed away on September 30, 2000, at the Selkirk General Hospital. Funeral service will be held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 6088 Highway 9A, Selkirk, Manitoba, on Wednesday, October 4 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Terry Throndson officiating. Interment will follow at the Austin Cemetery, Austin, Manitoba. Albert was born in the Laird District, Saskatchewan, on January 18, 1930. He spent several years working in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia before moving to Manitoba. He was employed as a mechanic with various automotive service centres in Winnipeg and Selkirk, before starting as an automotive partsman with J.A. Keddys in 1969. He later worked for Northroads Auto where he stayed until his retirement in 1989. Albert never took his family for granted and enjoyed being with them, especially the children, whom he always had time for. His patience and understanding were endless. He always gave freely of his time and was always willing to help anyone who needed it. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and looked forward to any time spent at Sportsmans Corner where he had a campsite for the past 18 years. There are many active hunters and fishermen who learned from Albert that the experience is much more than a filled limit. Predeceased by his father in 1986, he leaves to mourn his passing his wife Dianne; son Ted (Darlene) of Bowsman; daughter Tracey (Pat) granddaughters, Sarah, Amy, Jenna and Randi; his mother Tina; sisters, Margaret (Wilf) of B.C. and Ann (Stan) his brother Gary (Jean) of Thompson and many nieces and nephews. Our family wishes to send a big thank you to Dr. Lindenschmidt and Dr. Demsas, the nurses and staff at the Selkirk General Hospital for all their loving care and compassion while Albert was there. Friends may call at the Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Road S., Portage la Prairie, for visitation on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3B 2H8.
