HAROLD KENDEL Peacefully on Monday, October 2, at the Seven Oaks Hospital, Harold passed away at the age of 83 years with his family by his side. He was our beloved husband, father, and opa, and he will be forever sadly missed. Harold was born in Winnipeg June 25, 1917 and grew up in Elmwood and Birds Hill. He proudly served in the Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanic Engineers (R.C.E.M.E.) of the Armed Forces during the Second World War. From 1940 - 1945 he served in England, Holland, Belgium, Germany and Italy. While in Holland he met his beloved wife. Together they spent many happy years and celebrated their 53rd anniversary on May 17, 2000. Upon returning to Winnipeg he embarked upon a 35 year career at Crescent Creamery retiring in 1982. He loved his family and cherished the wonderful times he spent teaching and sharing his knowledge with us. He especially enjoyed cooking for the holiday dinners and having everyone together at a cabin at Winnipeg Beach each summer. He was a gentle and dedicated family man. Remaining to forever cherish his memory are his wife Dora; son Robert (Lynn) and his grandchildren, Tamara, Chad and Amber. He also leaves to mourn his passing his sister Rose Kuly as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Eliza and father Valentine, his sisters Carrie, Katie, Lillian, Eva and Betty, his brothers Henry, Jack and Philip as well as six brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law. Our family wishes to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Seven Oaks Hospital for being so kind to Harold during his illness and especially those on the fifth floor Unit 4 for their loving care and compassion. We would also like to say a special thank you to our friends. Martha, Annie and Tony for all their help and support during this difficult time. With respect to his wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., on Thursday, October 5 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Kruesel officiating. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, if so desired donations may be made in Harolds memory to the Cancer Foundation. Honorary pallbearers are all the friends and family member who are present at this service.
