Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTIM THURSTON October 6, 1950 - October 1, 2000 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Tim on Oct. 1, 2000. Tim was predeceased by this Father Paul A. Thurston (1998). Tim is survived by his wife Debbie; children Joey and Lyndsay; Mother Barbara Thurston; brothers Rick and Brian; and sister Janet as well as his niece Gina and nephew Jonathan; brother in laws Jim, Trevor (Gaye), David (Marina), John (Elaine), Don; Sister in laws Judy, Pat (John), Mary (Rodger) Kathie (Dave), numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends. Tim was born in Winnipeg October 6, 1950. Tim attended Nelson McIntyre, Churchill High and Grant Park. He received his BSW from University of Manitoba in 1977. Tim worked at The Society for Manitobans with Disabilities, Ten Ten Sinclair and for the last seven years has been a Counselor at Red River College. Tim will be missed by both staff and students from Red River College.Tim had a passion for the game of football and was an all star linebacker with the St. Boniface Broncs. Tim sustained a major injury in 1968 during a playoff game that left him quadriplegic. However, this did not dampen his spirit or his love of the game, having gone on to coaching at various levels of minor football in Winnipeg. He was also a season ticket holder of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and later very much enjoyed personally participating in his nephew Jonathans football development. Tims go for it attitude and his penchant for meeting challenges head on is evidenced by his willingness to venture places that most would not, such as kayaking with sister, snorkeling and fly in fishing with his brothers and driving his own vehicle. Tim also liked a good joke and was a life long fan of George Carlin. Tims other interests included reading, music, and the personal satisfaction he received by spending time with Debbie, Joey and Lindsay at their cottage in Lac Du Bonnet. The last few years of Tims life were his happiest after meeting Debbie in 1994, becoming a family, and marrying in 1998. The family would like to thank Dr. Teresa Cavett-Goodwin and Nina Williams and the staff of Grace Hospital. Cremation has taken place and the Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 7 at 3:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Parapalegic Society. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
