PHYLLIS BURNETTA VINT (nee Borton) With our deepest sorrow we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother at the age of 92 on October 3, at the Concordia Hospital with family at her side. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob), in January 1976; also by seven brothers and sisters, Jim, Nellie (Bert), Herb (Louise), Grace (Alvin), Fred, Doug, and Allan (Ruth) in-laws, Rita, Mark, Johnny, and Kathleen. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Betty (Bill) Couture of London, Ontario and Donna (Norm) Kozicki; sister Evelyn (Joe) Slater; sisters-in-law, Stella, Dorothy, Evelyn, and Bertha along with many nieces and nephews. Grandchildren, Kevin (Ruth), Kelly, Robert (Julie), John (Genevieve), Darren (Teresa), Darcie (David). Phyllis received great pleasure from her 13 great-grandchildren. Phyllis was born in Kenora, Ontario in 1908 and moved at a young age to MacGregor, Manitoba, where her family farmed and raised their 9 children. She moved to Winnipeg to attend Normal School, met and married Robert in 1934. Phyllis worked at Eatons until they bought and operated Robinson Store in North Kildonan. Always active in the A.C.W. at both St. Judas and St. Saviours Churches, she went on to achieve her life-time dream of being a teacher and opened a kindergarten in her home on Lyndhurst. Moving to Edgewood Estates, Phyllis had many wonderful times with her "Edgewood" friends, whom she loved dearly. After moving to Donwood Manor in 1999, she plunged ahead and made many new friends and remained active and happy. This special, caring person will be sadly missed by all. Special thanks to Doris, Dorothy, Martha, Mary, Eileen and Heather, along with all her Edgewood friends, also Evelyn and her dear nieces Dorothy and Joan. Many thanks to the wonderful staff of Concordia Hospital, her doctor Lynn Stadnyk, and the kindness and caring of nurses especially, Ivona, Naomi, Lydia, Rev. Rick Condo and Phyllis supportive church family. In celebration of the life of Phyllis, a memorial service will be held at St. Saviours Church, at Munroe and Grey, on Friday, October 6, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will immediately follow the service. Private interment at Chapel Lawn to follow at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined, if friends so desire, a donation in Phyllis memory may be made to a charity of ones choice. To love a Mom and then to part, Is the greatest trial to the human heart. Years of striving, little of play, Loving, giving, the whole of the way. A cherished smile, a heart of gold, To the dearest Mother the world could hold. Happy memories, fond and true, Beautiful memories are treasures ever, Of happy days when we were together. With aching hearts we whisper low, God bless you mother, will miss you so. Father in heaven hear our prayer, Guard our mother with tender care. Be a good shepherd, dont leave her alone, Love her as we loved her, When she was here at home. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
