Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE ANNE COX (DAVIDSON) June 7, 1922 - October 3, 2000 On the evening of October 3rd, 2000, Florence Anne passed peacefully into the arms of her awaiting husband Thomas Henry (1922 - 1978) while surrounded by the love of her family at the Victoria General Hospital. She was a dedicated wife and mother, an outstanding grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend. Florence was born and raised in Winnipeg and enjoyed many summers in Hodgson at her grandparents homestead. She lived in St. James until 1946 when her family moved next door to her future husband on Garfield Street. Florences life spanned 78 years which she filled with service to her family, friends and community. She loved family gatherings and being with friends. She was a courageous woman who believed in honesty, love and compassion. As her family grew, Mom always found time to be active in each of their lives and share her wisdom. In the past 20 years, Florence dedicated herself to researching her family tree and preserving the heritage of others. In 1979, she joined the Manitoba Genealogical Society where new friendships blossomed. She spent countless hours assisting others at the Winnipeg office and many weekends transcribing cemeteries around Manitoba. The friendships Mom nurtured lasted her lifetime. She remained in contact with friends from schooldays in St. James, neighbours from Jubilee Avenue, Marshall Crescent and the Riverbend Seniors Complex until her last days. She had a special way of endearing herself to others, including her childrens and grandchildrens friends. Mom loved to travel with her children, grandchildren and friends. She made several trips to Europe, strengthening ties with relations in England and continuing her research. She also visited many North American destinations; to do research in Utah, attend weddings, visit family and see new places. Some favourite summer destinations were the Whiteshell, Patricia Beach, Victoria Beach, Ditch Lake and Laurier. Mom loved card games, board games (especially Scrabble and Rummikub) and attending sporting events. In addition to her husband Thomas, Florence was predeceased by her parents George and Florence, her brother Allan and sister Jean. She will be deeply missed by her children, Bob and Liz Cox, Dianne and Mike Rogers, Susan and Earl Vance, Barb and Bill Clarke, Marg and Kurt Kirstein and Laura Cox; grandchildren, Jennifer and Mike, Andrea and Dave, Andrea, Cheryl and Matt, Liza, Tina, Darryl, Kathryn, Heather, Erica, Patricia, Jade, Tieler, Maya and Bailey and great-grandchildren, Connor and Brendan. Florence will also be sadly missed by her brother Harry (Audrey), sister Lillian (Gordon), her brother-in-law Harry (Betty) and her sisters-in-law Marion and Dorothy, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Florences family would like to thank all the staff on the 4th floor of the Victoria General Hospital, especially her dedicated nurse Fiona. In particular, her family wishes to recognise the many years of special care and support provided by Dr. Robyn Olson. A celebration of Flos life will be held on Saturday, October 7, at 1:00 p.m. in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Interment will follow in Garry Memorial Park, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Pallbearers will be Matthew Brough, Ed Clarkson, Dave Clow, Greg Enns, Mike Kuse and Cam Wilson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Division), The Manitoba Genealogical Society or the charity of your choice. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
