Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELGIN LEROY MAJURY October 19, 1934 - October 3, 2000 Today we lost a husband, a father and a grandfather. El fought a valiant battle to stay with us. El faced his illness with courage and determination to win the battle. We laughed, we cried, but we never gave up hope, always hoping for a cure to this devastating disease. El is survived by his wife Johnann of 41 years; his son Daren (Donna) his daughters, Faith, Hope (Jim) his grandchildren, Thomas and Travis Russell; his sister Evaline Yates; sister-in-law Ruth and family; niece Darlene and Jim Scarsbrook, Jamie Lynn, Kelly and David of Whiterock B.C.; nephew Wilmer and Val and his family, Brenda and Joe and family, Tracy and family, Cathy and Herb and the boys, Brian and Diane and family, Bev and Jim and family, Kim and Joan and family, Karen and family and Craig of Thompson, Man.; his brother-in-law Dave (Neva) of Kelowna, B.C., and nieces, Bobbie and Jackie and family in British Columbia and many in-laws, Aberdeen and Kilwinning, Scotland and in-laws in New Zealand. El was predeceased by his parents Jack and Alice; brothers, Leslie, Cecile, Elmer and Murray; his sister Hazel; his brother-in-law Art Yates and mother-in-law Johnann Elrick. El was born in Dauphin, Man., and spent his young life in Amaranth, Man., moving to Winnipeg where he spent the rest of his life. El met and married Johnann in 1959 and raised three children. El worked in various jobs in his life but in the last 20 years worked for Mitchell Consolidated Stores and Daytons where he retired in 1996. El loved his coffee breaks with his coffee buddies at The Wagon Wheel Restaurant each day. El laughed and loved to joke, he knew everyone, and it was like one big family. El loved to laugh. El loved country and western music, El loved life, he loved his family and was so proud of his two grandkids, Thomas and Travis whom he called T & T. Els latest project was to restore his 1966 Buick Wildcat he and his son Daren bought. El wanted to, upon restoration, show the car in the Antique Car Show at the Pony Coral. Unfortunately El was diagnosed with cancer in August of 1997. A memorial service will be held Tuesday October 10, at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A reception will take place in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. Thanks to Dr. Marr and all the staff at Riverview who cared for El through out his illness. The Majury family appreciates your kindness and care. A special thanks to R.N. Dorothy, Charley, Armando and Squeeky who were with El in his final hours. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Elgins name to the Cancer Society of Manitoba, P.O. Box 2248 Station Main, R3C 9Z9, so we may find a cure for this devastating disease. I love you Sweetheart Rest in Peace. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
