BOANERGE MELO BENTO July 18, 1934 - October 5, 2000 Peacefully, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family, Mr. Boanerge Bento passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. He leaves behind his wife Maria of 42 years; his twin daughters Maria (Arsenio) Chaves and Isabel (David) Machado; grandchildren, Daniel, Dennis, Kevin and Sarah; sisters Alda (Ilidio) Borges, Oligia (Fernando) Belhoes (Kingston, ON) brothers Manuel (Lurdes) (Montreal) and Gilbert (London, ON) mother-in-law Candida Soares; sisters-in-law Armanda Dias, Aura (Victor) Cavaco (Boston) and Luiza Bento; brothers-in-law Edgardo (Conceicao) Botelho, Dinarte Botelho (Venezuela) and Joao (Sharon) Botelho (Edmonton) and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and brother David. Boanerge was born in St. Miguel, Acores and came to Canada in 1969 and worked at CN for 25 years retiring in 1995. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was always there for his family. Prayers will be said on Monday, October 9 at 4:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. North with Rev. Fr. Jose E. Medeiros officiating. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum located in Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren Daniel, Dennis, Kevin, Sarah and godchildren Miguel and Stuart Botelho. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Boanerges memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON109, Wpg., R3E 0V9. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements - 586-8044.
