Angele was predeceased by the love of her life and companion for 61 years, her late dearest husband, William Charles Bruyere, parents Alexander Fontaine and Therese Courchene, sons Joseph, Ron, Louison, daughters Alma, infant daughter, infant twins, sister Esther and daughter-in-law Sophie. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her sister Genevieve; her brother Laurence; sons Wilfred, Bert, Toni (Carol), Bruce (Bev), Chris (Delores), Neil (Angie), Blake, Rollie; daughters Lorraine, Theresa (Bert), Sylvia, Rose (Dave), Viola, Joan (Russell), Kim (Paul) daughters-in-law Annette, Cecile, Elaine; son-in-law Calvin; 96 grandchildren; 177 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Angele was educated at the residential school in Fort Alexander. Her young adult life was devoted to raising her children, often under harsh economic times. After raising her children, she became involved in public life where she pioneered and assisted in the development of many of Sagkeengs services and institutions. This exemplified that her dedication and commitment extended beyond her family and into the community. Angele was one of the fortunate chosen few to represent Sagkeeng during a Royal Visit to London, England and the Papal Visit in Winnipeg where she met the Pope. "Kookum" lived a long productive and sustaining life, she always displayed great strength, character, wisdom and spirituality. She leaves this as an example of her legacy for family, friends and the community to follow. One of her greatest wishes was to see the community revive the "community spirit" through mutual understanding and working together. A sense of respect and sincere generosity was felt by those who crossed paths in life with Angele. We all loved Angele and will miss her dearly. All that she taught us will live on in our hearts. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 9, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church, Sagkeeng First Nation with Rev. Fr. John Te Nguyen officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Wake service began on Friday, October 6 at St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church.
