MICHAEL OLINYK Peacefully, on Friday, October 6, 2000, Mr. Michael Olinyk, beloved husband of Johanna, passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 71 years. Michael will be sadly missed by his loving wife Johanna of 48 years; his daughters, Marlene (Harry) Blake, Judy (Jerry) Besyk, and Diane (Ron) Payjack; son Dennis (Judy) five grandchildren, Brent, Amanda, Matthew, Jeffrey and Chad; three brothers, Pete (Stella) of Toronto, Edward of Selkirk and Ernest (Bev) of Burns Lake, B.C.; five sisters, Anne (Edmund) Kirkhus of Edmonton, Rose (Ray) Layfield of Vancouver, Florence Negrich and Olga Harapiak of Red Lake, Ont., and Mary Prychak of Winnipeg and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Josephine; mother and father-in-law Peter and Pearl Burdeniuk; sister Lena Shewchuk; brother Bill; brothers-in-law, Nick Harapiak and Steve Prychak. Michael was born February 25, 1929, in Sclater, Man., where he met and married Johanna. They farmed there and moved to Winnipeg in 1957, where they raised their four children. He worked at Federal Pioneer Electric for 18 years and took an early retirement in 1991. He was a loving husband, father and "Gee-Gee." His garden was his favourite hobby and we all benefited from its produce and beauty. Prayers will be held on Monday, October 9, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 10, at 11:30 a.m., also at the chapel with Very Rev. Fr. John Melnyk officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ernie and Bill Burdeniuk, Leonard and Terry Harapiak, Ron Gromniski and Brent Chrustie. The family would like to express "Special Thanks" to Dr. Jason Park, Dr. Geddes, Dr. Embil, Dr. Davidson and the nurses and staff of MICU and GD-3. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michaels memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301 - 352 Donald Ave., Winnipeg, Man., R3B 2H8, or the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, Man., R3C 0S6.
