Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE JOSEPH DE PAPE George Joseph De Pape passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre on Saturday, October 7, 2000 at the age of 76. George will be lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty-one years, Laura (Muirhead) his children, John, Murray, Midge, Doug and Donna; other family members Kerry Linklater, Yvette (LaRiviere), Cathy (Roach) and Ingrid Stephan; grandchildren, Andrew, Nicky, Alex, Andre, Christine, Marc, Marnie, Stacy, Michael, Brad and Cindy; sisters, Alma, Marguerite, Clara, and Sr. Mary; brothers, Gerry and Ray; as well as numerous nephews and nieces and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles De Pape and Marie (De Roo) as well as his brothers Remi, Wilfred, Albert, John and Joseph. George was born on the family farm near Swan Lake, MB in 1924 where he grew up loving the challenges of farming within a close knit family of twelve. After serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War he graduated in 1949 from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. He worked exclusively in the agricultural field, first for the Manitoba Provincial Government and then as farm manager for James Richardson & Sons until his retirement in 1984. Georges passion was purebred cattle; throughout his career he was involved in the western Canadian livestock industry as a breeder and a judge as well as active in local and national cattle breeders associations. Well respected throughout the purebred industry, George was honoured to participate in trade missions to Mexico and Japan as well as to be asked to judge purebred cattle at shows in both Canada and the United States. His family greatly appreciates the tender care George received at Riverview Health Centre. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 12 at 10:00 a.m. in St. John Brebeuf Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Place with Father Michael Koryluk as the Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation, 1 Morley Ave. East, Winnipeg, R3L 2P4 or the Canadian Cancer Society, (Manitoba Division) 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, R3L 2B7.
