Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMAN (NACHUM) GELLER Norman (Nachum) Geller, son of Max and Dora Geller, brother of Sidney, Beatrice, and Phyllis, passed away on Saturday, October 7th, 2000. Norman is survived by his dearly beloved family, wife, of 48 years, Norma; daughters, Raechelle and Bill Fraser(Mackenzie), Maxine and Ron Bell(Mathew & Jesse) sons, Phillip and Robin Geller (Mark & Jordan) and David Geller (Alexandra) sister Phyllis and Ron Polinsky and sister-in-law Miriam Geller and numerous relatives and friends. Norman grew up in the North End of Winnipeg and became one of the outstanding Jewish athletes from his community playing Y.M.H.A. soccer, Jacob & Crawley baseball and high school football. As a Professional Football player, Norman played with the R.C.A.F. Toronto Hurricanes, Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was a proud member of the Blue Bomber Alumni. He was an ardent bowler with the Classic Ten Pin and Centennial Mixed Bowling Leagues and belonged to the Thistle and Granite Sportsman Curling Clubs. Norman enjoyed golfing, visiting the racetrack and playing cards with his many friends and relatives. Norman was equally proud of the five years served with the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. Norman had an extensive career with York Tire, becoming the most renowned salesman in Winnipeg. He always made friends of the many customers he served in the trucking business because of his uncompromising integrity. Norman enjoyed a close relationship with his employer and friend, Lou Leibl, associates Bill Feldman and Larry Rice and the numerous employees of York Tire. Norman will be remembered as a loving, caring, compassionate husband, father, zeda and friend. He enjoyed summer vacations at Winnipeg Beach with his family and friends. Upon retirement, Norman and Norma shared their time between their home at Winnipeg Beach and their winter vacations in Florida. Norman was proud of his family and his grandchildren were a source of joyful inspiration. They loved spending time with their Zeda, inspite of his illness. Normans plans to retire and enjoy his life with his family were thwarted by his illness. He succumbed to Alzheimers Disease and spent many years residing at the Betel Home in Gimli. We would like to thank Dr. Zeph Wiesenthal, and the administration and staff of the Betel Home of Gimli for their love, dedication and compassion for Norman all these years. A special thank you to Normans nephew, Martin Simmons for his love and devotion. We would like to thank all those friends who continued to care for Norman because we know he felt your presence. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society. Services will take place on Thursday, October 12th at 2:00 p.m. at Temple Shalom at 1077 Grant with Rabbi Levinson officiating. To know him was to love him. Miss Me But Let Me Go When I come to the end of the road, And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room, Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long, And not with your head bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take, And each must go alone, Its part of the Masters plan, A step on the road to home. So when you are lonely and sick at heart, Go to the friends we know, And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds, Miss me-but let me go. Rest in Peace Nachum. It has been a long good-bye.
