Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERLA KATHLEEN KASTON (nee McKEE) August 7, 1926 - October 8, 2000 On Sunday, October 8, 2000, with her three children at her side, Verla Kaston passed away at age 74. She was predeceased by her husband John Kaston in 1981, her father and mother Jack and Susan McKee and her brothers Robert and Mervin. Remaining to forever cherish her memory and celebrate her life are her children Linda (partner Lindsay Kolt), and Barry Kaston, Joanne Kreis and her much loved grandchildren Meagan and Jordan Kreis who brightened her days and put a smile on her face. Her special companion, John Allan, is also left to treasure her memory. She will also be sadly missed by her sister Loretta (Orville) Hume, her brothers Allan (Evelyn), and Wilson (Pat) McKee and sister-in-law Margaret McKee as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. A special thanks to Eleanor Gross for being there for the children so Joanne could be with her mom. Verla was raised on the family farm outside of Neepawa, Man. She came to Winnipeg at age 17 and began employment with the Bank of Montreal at Portage and Vaughan. Over the years she continued to work at various branches of the Bank of Montreal, First City Trust and Assiniboine Credit Union. Verla was a friendly, caring, compassionate woman whose sense of humour and generous spirit made her an angel here on earth. Her outgoing nature and zest for life always made her younger than her years. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the staff at HSC on A3 and GH4 for their loving care and compassion. A special thanks to Dr. Koulack, Dr. Eric Smith and Dr. St. John, as well as nurses Nicole and Erica. Each day Mom expressed her gratitude for your skill, kindness and genuine care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Moms memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Crohns and Colitis Foundation. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, October 13 at the Kirkfield United Church, 472 Kirkfield Street at 4:30 p.m. with Rev. Colin Peterson officiating. Following the service, a gathering of friendship will take place at The Viscount Gort, 1670 Portage Avenue. The family invites all those who knew Verla to come and share their memories and stories of Mom with them. Count your garden by the flowers, Never by the leaves that fall, Count your days by golden hours, Dont remember clouds at all, Count your nights by stars not shadows, Count your years with smiles not tears, Count your blessings not your troubles, Count your age by friends not years. Mom, you will be missed more than you know by so many, especially your children and grandchildren. You will always be close to our hearts. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
