JOHN (MAC) McGREGOR BANNISTER August 25, 1932 - October 9, 2000 It is with great sadness and deep sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Mac, aged 68 years, at Riverview Health Centre on October 9, 2000. Mac will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Vickie of 39 years; daughter Sherry (Kolida) son-in-law Bob and granddaughter Sydney of Toronto, Ontario; son Kerri of Winnipeg; sisters, Shirley Spence of Winnipeg and Betty (Jim) Ferguson of London, Ontario; brothers, Wayne (Bev) of Calgary, Alberta and Bill (Marge) of Winnipeg. Also sisters-in-law, Dianne, Lynne and Bev Barfield of Winnipeg, Shirley (Jerry) Flemming of Edmonton, Alberta and mother-in-law Mary Barfield of Winnipeg, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Mac was predeceased by his mother and father. Mac was a leading seaman in the Royal Canadian Navy from November 27, 1951 till November 26, 1956 where he received the United Nations Service Medal and served in the reserves until 1959. After leaving the navy he worked for a private firm as a surveyor at Findlay Surveys for a number of years then applied and worked for the City of Winnipeg (Land Surveys) for 25 years, retiring in 1997. The family would like to thank Dr. M. Garcia and the staff on 3 East at the Riverview Health Centre. In lieu of flowers for those who wish a donation may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
