Slawko leaves to cherish his memory, his uncle Peter (Jean) Michalishyn of Winnipeg; sister Romana (Andrij) Barda; brother Yuriy (Marika) Wasyliw and extended family in the Ukraine. He will also be sadly missed by many cousins and friends in Canada and U.S.A. He was predeceased by his parents, Maria and Michael and one brother John. Slawko was born on October 18, 1924, in Selo Kuty, Livivska Oblast Ukraine. He immigrated to Canada in 1949 and settled in Winnipeg, with employment in the garment industry. After retiring from his lifes work, Slawko devoted his energy to supporting his family overseas, spending time with immediate family and friends and taking an active part in his church ministries, Slawko was a gentle man, with a warm generosity and a quiet accepting style. After immigrating to Canada, Jerry became a faithful servant of the Lord. He served the Ukrainian Evangelical Baptist Church with dedication and commitment as church secretary, sang in the choir and quartets often over the radio and television programs. As a church usher he loved to meet people and give Christian literature to the new comers. God blessed Jerry with the gift of caring for and helping people in need. He cared for relatives who were in Ukraine and sent them parcels with clothing, food, medicine and assisted them financially. He supported Missions to Ukraine, spent countless hours packing parcels in the church and sending them to the needy people and churches in Ukraine. Jerry also had the opportunity on several occasions to visit Ukraine - Churches, relatives and to help many people there. Although Jerry will not be with us, his life of dedication and service will live in our hearts for many years. He has gone for his well deserved reward in heaven which his Saviour will grant him.
