GERALD DWAYNE ASHLEY On Tuesday, October 10, 2000 at the Portage District General Hospital, following a brief illness with cancer, Dwayne Ashley of Fort Simpson, Northwest Territories, beloved son of Ruth and the late Kenneth Ashley, passed away at the age of 58 years. Cremation. A graveside service for the interment of the cremated remains will be held at the family plot in Hillside Cemetery, Portage la Prairie at a later date. Dwayne was born on May 15, 1942 at Miami, Man. He was raised and received his education at Miami and Bissett. He then entered the mining industry and was employed in Saskatchewan, Alberta and the Northwest Territories, later moving to reside at Fort Simpson, NWT where he was employed with the territorial government. Dwayne enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting, fishing and driving his motor home to visit his mother in Portage la Prairie and sister in Ottawa. Predeceased by his father Kenneth in 1986, Dwayne will be sadly missed by his mother Ruth of Portage and his sister Myrna and brother-in-law Rick Pears of Ottawa. In Dwaynes memory, should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the charity of their choice. The Omega Funeral Home, Portage la Prairie is in care of the arrangements.
