PETER JACKMAN Peter passed away at 2:15 a.m. on October 12, 2000 in Winnipeg after an aggressive battle with bone cancer. Fortunately his family had been able to gather from across Canada to be together with him in his final hours. With him were his beloved wife Pat Jacobsen and his children, Patrick from Vancouver, Martha (Mike Langtry) from Ottawa, Angela (Chris Christie) and Kate from Winnipeg. Peter will always be fondly remembered by his sister Lois (Gerry Johnston) from Stittsville, Ontario and his four grandchildren, Sean and Ali Christie from Winnipeg and Frances and Lily Langtry from Ottawa. A native of Perth, Ontario. Peter worked for newspapers in Perth, Chatham, Sudbury and Ottawa before joining the Ontario Public Service where he rose to become Assistant Deputy Minister with responsibility for provincial tourist facilities. After retiring, Peter was able to put his talent and energy into his passion for woodworking and creating a new family home in Winnipeg. The family move to Winnipeg two years ago opened doors to many new friends and their support through these last ten months has been wonderful. Winnipeg visitation will be held on Friday, October 13 from 7:00 pm. to 9:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., entrance on Aubrey St. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, October 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Ave. with Reverend Father Sam Argeniano officiating.
