WILLIAM WALTER (BILL) BORYS Peacefully, on Tuesday, October 10, 2000 at the Victoria General Hospital, William Borys passed away at the age of 83 years. Leaving fond memories to his loving wife (Min) Minnie, a sister-in-law Olga and nephew Michael, also his nephews, nieces and great nieces, cousins, neighbors and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Alice and brother-in-law Alex Zadeski. Bill "as he liked to be called" was born in 1917 in Winnipeg, MB. He also received his education in Winnipeg. Bill worked for C.N.R. Stores from 1939 until retirement in 1982. He was also Secretary for the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees for 16 years. He served with the Canadian Army Overseas during the Second World War, returning to Canada in 1946. Bill married Minnie Diaczun in 1948 and spent 52 long and happy years together. Bill was actively involved in many organizations throughout Winnipeg. He was a member of the Shrine and a Past President of the Shrine Hospital, a member of the Masonic Lodge of Fidelity 146, A.F. and A.M. of Winnipeg, Manitoba for many years. Bill was also a member of the Fort Garry Chapter No. 17, Order of the Eastern Star. Bill loved the outdoors, gardening, looking after his prize hedge and talking with the neighbors and friends. He was quite the handyman around the home. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, October 17 at 2:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley Street, with Padre Stan Millar officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Williams memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8 or to a charity of ones choice.
