Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTANIS LYNN DUECK (nee RUSK) Suddenly on Thursday, October 5, 2000, close to her residence, Tanis Lynn Dueck (Rusk), passed away at the age of 38 years. A celebration of her life was held at Trinity United Church, 15 Tupper Street S., on Tuesday, October 10 at 2:00 p.m. shared by Reverend Leith Saunders and Reverend Ross Taylor. Tanis was predeceased by her grandparents, and many aunts and uncles. She leaves to mourn her passing her children: Tyler (age 11) and Chantel (age 7) parents Bill and Erma Rusk of Portage la Prairie; sister Cheryl (Chris) Henderson of Portage la Prairie; brother Daryl (Lori-Anne) Rusk and her nephew Trevor of St. Andrews, Man.; fiance and special friend Don Kalupar of St. Andrews, MB.; Uncle Bryan Link (Al Antonio) of Portage la Prairie; Aunt Phyllis Clark of Portage la Prairie; Aunt Caroline (Ivan) Fitzsimmons of St. Clements, Man.; Aunt Frankie Asham of Winnipeg, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, many special neighbours and close friends. Tanis was born on September 21, 1962 in Portage la Prairie. She completed her education in Portage attending La Verendrye School (K-9) and Portage Collegiate/Arthur Meighen High Schools. Tanis initiated her career with the Royal Bank of Canada in Winnipeg; relocating to the Royal Bank in Edmonton for a few years in the early 1980s; returning to Manitoba and continuing her career with other financial institutions, including Portage Credit Union in the late 1980s. Tanis married Gary Dueck on December 25, 1989, residing in Portage la Prairie where they began their family with the birth of their son Tyler in July, 1989. The family relocated to her present home in the Curtis Ridge Area in the spring of 1991. Their daughter Chantel was born in December 1992. At that time, Tanis became a full time mother and homemaker for her children and husband. Subsequent to Tanis and Garys marital separation in November 1997, Tanis returned to work at the IGA in Portage la Prairie, where she was currently employed as a supervisor in the customer service department. Tanis and her children remained in the family home in the country where she was successfully dealing with the heavy responsibilities of being a single working parent. Tanis loved life to the fullest. Her biggest pride and joy were her children. She cherished her family and friends, and gave unconditionally to all who knew her. Tanis enthusiasm and bright outlook were amongst her strongest features. Tanis could lift spirits and brighten even the darkest room. Even in her own troubled times, one could find Tanis to be positive and cheery. She was always there for her children, family, coworkers and friends, helping them through troubled times - giving them a fresh and positive outlook. Tanis loved the great outdoors - camping, fishing and spending time in her flower/vegetable gardens. She enjoyed gourmet cooking, entertaining friends and family and always looked forward to special occasions. Tanis will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
