MERLE CRAVEN Peacefully on October 9, 2000, Merle Craven passed away at age 91. She was predeceased by her husband Joe Craven in 1991. Left to treasure her memory are her children, Sidney Craven of Vancouver, B.C., Elaine Paul (Bobby), Beverly Craven and her beloved grandchildren, Sharon, Michael (Stephanie), Trevor (Beth), Kelly (Jason), and her cherished great granddaughter Riley Rachel Hunt, and her brother George Turner (Muriel) of Richmond, B.C., and many nieces and nephews. Merle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a positive woman who faced adversity with strength and compassion. Mom was gifted with a wonderful sense of humour and a talent to bring happiness to all who knew her. Merle was involved in local theatre for a number of years. She performed with the Jewish drama group, radio and the Golden Rods. She was an active member of National Council play reading group. Merle also did volunteer work in the schools assisting disadvantaged children with reading. Her warm personality and unique sense of humour will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Many thanks to her devoted friends Rose Bodnarus, Lupe Paseschnikoff and Teresa Friesen, the wonderful staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge and the special care and kindness of the nursing staff on 3E at Deer Lodge Centre. The interment took place on Wednesday, October 11 at Bnai Abraham Cemetery. If so desired, donations in her memory would be welcomed to the Shalom Residences Inc., 123 Matheson Ave., Wpg., R2W 0C3.
