Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH ANDREW MURCHISON B. Comm., LL.B. Q.C. Senior Partner Low, Murchison Suddenly at home in Ottawa in his sleep, death came after a worthwhile life of 75 years and a happy marriage with his beloved wife Jacquey (Hodgins) for over 50 years. Their marriage was blessed with three children. Donald, who with his wife Susan and their two sons, David and Brian, resides in Calgary, Alta.; Margo, who has taught in Kanata schools for many years; and Keith, who with his wife Karen and their children, Dana, Krista and Brock, live in Ottawa. During his life Ken gave generously of his time and talent to the many activities in which he was involved. First, of course, to his law practice and to the needs of his clients which he did for over 50 years. In this he earned the respect, not only of his clients, but also of his loyal and wonderful partners and staff and other members of his profession. Many organizations benefitted from his help so freely given, particularly in the fields of health and education. His services as a Trustee of the Ottawa Public School Board for many years and as its Chairman for three consecutive years during the 1960s was of great value during a time when far-reaching changes were taking place in the development and expansion of elementary public school education. He drew much comfort and direction in carrying out these responsibilities from his lifetime involvement in his church and played a very significant part in the affairs of Parkdale United Church. His involvement and participation in sports, such as tennis, golf and especially curling gave him great pleasure and an outlet for his boundless energy and resulted in many of his greatest friendships. Ken was an Honorary Life member and past President of the Granite Curling Club 1957-58 and a member of the Governor Generals Curling Club. He and his family shared marvellous times at their cottage on Green Lake, Quebec where again he spent many hours improving facilities for the cottage community. Born in St. Boniface, Manitoba he completed his education at Queens University and Osgoode Hall Law School after active service with the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War and then chose Ottawa as his home. He was intensely proud of his city and did all that he could to be a worthy citizen. He will be missed by all who knew him and particularly by his brother and best friend Dr. Clifford (Kip) Murchison, his wife Val and their children, as well as by his sister Grace Howes of Bryan, Texas and her sons. Friends may visit the family at Tubman Funeral Homes Garden Chapel at 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean, Ont. (between Baseline and Bayshore) on Saturday, October 14 and Sunday, October 15 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Service will be held in the Garden Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16 followed by private interment at Pinecrest Cemetery. Instead of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the MS Research Clinic in care of Dr. Freedman, Ottawa Hospital General Campus, or the Canadian Diabetes Association. "A persons life is only worthwhile to the extent that it has a good effect on the lives of others." Kens life was indeed worthwhile.
