Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE LOGGIE CAMERON The family of George Loggie Cameron sadly announces his sudden passing on October 11, 2000. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Lillian (Downs) his children, their spouses and grandchildren, Diane, Frank, Alara and Akaysha Humniski; Gordon "Jock", Francoise, Genevieve and William Cameron and Allan and Aprill Cameron of Toronto. Loggie was born on October 10, 1916 in Huntley, Scotland, coming to Canada as a wee lad of 4. He grew up on Leila Avenue in West Kildonan, making lifelong friends and completing his schooling at Centennial School. As a boy he was a member of the Cameron Cadets. George worked at "The Bay" moving from delivery to the camera department where he developed a continuing interest in photography. He later joined the Federal Government retiring from Department of Supply and Services in 1979 after 38 years. George was active in Kildonan United, giving leadership and acting as church treasurer for over 25 years. He played an active role in the Masonic Lodge as a member of Fidelity Lodge No. 146. He edited Fidelity News for nearly 50 years, including the October 2000 issue. George served as secretary of the lodge for some time in addition to serving as master in 1953 and 1983. George was very creative and appreciated imagination in people. He leaves a legacy of stories, paintings, photos and treasured gentle moments to his family. He was very musical, joyfully playing his tunes on a variety of instruments. He delighted in small children and leaves behind countless happy memories for his grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other wee friends. Besides his immediate family, he leaves two nieces, Lynne Fridmann, Sandy Beutler and families of Buffalo, N.Y.; cousins in Canada and Scotland; the large extended Downs family which he considered his own, including Mame Mattison; Lorne, Gordon, Les and Allan Downs; Vietta Gill and their families and a wide circle of friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Nellie Cameron; his first wife Gladys Christiansen; his sister Barbara Bradley and his much loved in-laws, Walter and Violet Downs. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Kildonan United Church, 187 Kilbride. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Kildonan United Church General Fund, 187 Kilbride Ave., Wpg, R2V 0Z7. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
