Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Carl (Bev), Lucas (Pamela) and Allison; Fred (Linda) Jennifer, Mark and Meaghan all of Winnipeg; daughter Diane (Keith) Steven, Meredith and Victoria of Camrose, Alta., and many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by parents, Peter and Margaret Schmidt and brother Peter. Frieda was born on September 3, 1926 at home in Wingham, Man. and grew up in the area. She was a permit teacher for one year at Thornhill, Man. and then moved to Winnipeg, working for Dr. Tritt as a Dental Assistant. She married Ernest Pauls of Arnaud, Man., on June 23, 1951 at the Elm Creek, Man. Church. For 49 years Frieda was faithful in her steadfast support of Ernests work, music and athletic endeavours. For the next number of years she dedicated her time to raising her children in Winnipeg and for a brief period in Niverville. While living in Niverville, she took the initiative to start a Kindergarten because the local school didnt have one. As her children grew older, she took on part-time work in the fabric department at Sears, Polo Park. After a number of years, she quit her job at Sears and began focusing more of her energies on her volunteer work. She spent many hours at the MCC Thrift Store on Sargent Avenue. Frieda and Ernest spent four months in a volunteer position at 10,000 Villages in Akron, PA and later volunteered for three months in Budapest, Hungary at Association of Christian Schools International. These volunteer assignments were a continuation of a lifetime of service. Frieda volunteered on many church committees, especially those relating to food and decorating. Frieda had the gift of hospitality! Her energy and enthusiasm for doing things for her family and others will be GREATLY missed. The grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Funeral Service will be held at the Portage Avenue M.B. Church, 1420 Portage Ave., Monday, October 16 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Claude Pratte officiating.
