WILLIAM "BILL" STANKO William Stanko passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, October 13, 2000, at the Holy Family Nursing Home. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Josephine of 63 years; children, Ed and John (Judy) grandchildren, Sherry (Ron) Sheen, Jason (Jennifer), Steven (Charlene) and Karen and two great-grandchildren, Justin and Kyle. He will also be remembered by his sister Kay of Komarno, MB; brother Norman of St. Catherines, Ont.; several in-laws, nieces and nephews. Bill was self employed with the city for 37 years. He was a loving grandfather and will be sadly missed by his grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Terry Babick and all of the staff of 3A at Holy Family Nursing Home and Cornish 2 at the Misericordia Hospital for their kind and compassionate care. Flowers are gratefully declined, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Bills memory to a charity of ones choice. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Fr. Mikhail Kouts at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 94 McGregor St. Interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. Pallbearers will be Ed Stanko, Jason Stanko, Steven Stanko, Ron Sheen, George Melegus, Norman Chura, Peter Melegus Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Stan Chura, Mike, Sam, Peter, Nick, Richard, Ross, Ken, Stephen Melegus, Glen Nazimak.
