H. PETER CHRISTIANSEN On October 15, 2000 at Riverview Health Centre, Peter Christiansen, beloved husband of Soli of Winnipeg, died at the age of 78 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Donna (Ron) Sawatzky and their son Richard of Calgary, Alta., Valdine (Grant) Rodewald and their children, Keith and Kirby of New Market, Ont., one son Calvin (Sandy) and their daughter Kylee of Ottawa. He was predeceased by his brother Carl. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. C. Ogaranko, as well as the staff at the Riverview Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion. Peter immigrated to Canada in 1925. He settled in the Dominion City area where he farmed until 1976. He served in the R.C.A.M.C. from December 1942 till March 1946. On October 16, 1954 he was married to Soli Bjornson who had come from Arborg to teach in Dominion City. In 1978 Peter and his family moved to Emerson where Peter worked for Public Works Canada until his retirement in 1985. They moved to Winnipeg in 1997. Peter and Soli loved their winters together in Yuma, Arizona as well as camping and travelling throughout Canada. Peter served on the St. Pauls Lutheran Church Council. He was also past president and secretary treasurer of the Emerson Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., with Pastor Dean Anderson officiating. Interment of ashes to follow in the Dominion City Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends desire, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or Riverview Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
