Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH BERGEN Peacefully on October 12, 2000 at Bethania Personal Care Home, Elizabeth Bergen, widow of Elias J. Bergen died at the age of 88 years. She is survived by two daughters, Marguerite (John) Rogalsky of Winnipeg, Verna (Adolf) Doering of Chilliwack, B.C.; one son Victor (Loralyn) of Winnipeg; son-in-law Arnold (Mary) Abrahams of Stonewall, also 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, Dr. Randall Rogalsky (Dr. Anne Bowman) Jeannie, Lindsay, James and Lauren of Godfrey, Il. Don Rogalsky (Debbie), Evan and Kimberley of Winnipeg, Elaine Aubin (Andrew), Alana and Colette of Taunton, Ma. Barbara-Anne Hodge (David), Timothy, John, Emily and Samuel, of Winnipeg. Ken Rogalski (Lori), Tyler, Adam and Shawn, of Winnipeg. Candace Everard (Ken) of Winnipeg. Garth Abrahams (Irmie), Matthew, Amanda, Jared of Argyle, MB. Marina Giuffre (James) and Christopher of Proctor, Mn. Vicki Abrahams, Heather Abrahams of Winnipeg. Corina Kropp (Darryl) of Burnaby BC. Mark, Steven and Jonathon Bergen. Sisters-in-law Katherine Sawatsky (Peter) and Maria Bergen. Also numerous nieces and nephews to whom Aunt Betty is the last surviving aunt. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by daughter Alvina Abrahams in 1976 and grandson Eric Doering in 1989. She was also predeceased by four brothers, Dietrich, Cornelius, Jacob and Peter Heppner and three sisters, Anna Janzen, Agatha Enns and Mary Bergen. Elizabeth was born in Leonidovka USSR and immigrated to Canada in 1926. After brief schooling in Meadows MB she worked in Winnipeg in private households. Here she learned the art of cooking at which she excelled. Following her marriage in 1931, she became a farmers wife. The family farmed at Elkhorn, Niverville and Marquette MB. Moving to Winnipeg in 1947. Her husband established Bergen Concrete Works which was their livelihood for 20 years until they moved to Arizona in 1967. Following the death of her husband in 1974 she moved back to Winnipeg to be closer to her family. Since 1990 she has been a resident of The Bethania Personal Care Home where she received most excellent care. The family wishes to express appreciation to all the staff there as well as Dr. Chris Loepp and Chaplains Rosalie Leoppky and Gerhard Friesen. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 18 at 11:00 a.m. at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame at Alverstone. Interment to follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation and Devotional will be held on Tuesday, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy.
