WILLIAM (BILL) HENRY WHETTELL Peacefully, on Sunday, October 15, 2000 at the age of 90 years, Bill left this life to join his loving wife Bunny and his cherished granddaughter, Tara. Bill will be forever remembered by his daughter Kim, son-in-law Martin Langeler and grandson Jordon. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Win McKenzie, Lloyd Whettell and wife Ethel, Shirley McCracken, and Don Whettell and wife Bunny; and he also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Bill will now be joining sister Irene and brothers, Jack, Allan, Bob, Charles, George, Raymond and Gordon. Bill started his life in 1910 on a dairy farm at Oak Bluff, MB. In 1923, the family moved to Fort Garry. He then worked for a time with Canada Bread and in 1939 Bill started work with Claydons Construction Co. as a dragline / crane operator until 1971. He spent two years with Disposall, and then ended his working career with a ten years stint at Londero Wrecking. In 1983 Bill retired at the age of 73 years. He then enjoyed many years puttering in his yard and garden. Dad will be remembered for his keen sense of humour. He always had a quick comeback and endearing nicknames for those who were close to him. Bill was a caring and supportive father and grandfather; always ready to lend a hand to those in need. Special thanks go to Dr. Ramgoolam; the Nurses and Caregivers at Golden Links Lodge, where Dad resided the last three years. We gratefully appreciate the care and compassion you gave Dad. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 18 at 2:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Highway 1 East at Green Acres Lane. The interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens with the following acting as Pallbearers: Bob McKenzie, Ted McKenzie, Maurice Roy, Leroy Krueger, Jack Kimbriel and Bill Horner.
