Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNADA ALICE RAMPTON After a long life made rich by the love of her family and friends, Nada (Wilkinson) Rampton, 82, passed away on October 14, 2000. Nada was a lifelong resident of Dauphin, and although she travelled to many countries, she loved her home town best. She was born in Dauphin in 1918 to Neil and May (Birss) Wilkinson. As a young woman, she was a record-setting track and field star, keen softball player and enthusiastic skater. Nada studied to become a teacher, then taught for several years at the one room Mayflower School southwest of Dauphin. In 1939 she married a young farmer named Art Rampton and started to build a family that would become her lifes pride and joy. While Art was overseas during the Second World War, Nada worked at the Dauphin post office. Afterwards, she helped Art in his endeavours, namely the Golden Guernsey Jug Store and the farm office. In her spare time, she continued to play softball and also became an accomplished bowler, taking part in many provincial tournaments. She was an award-winning gardener who never stopped trying new plants in her lovely yard facing the Riding Mountains. Nada always had a great sense of style. Over the past 20 years, she channelled her love of fashion and family into a unique collection of designer sweaters she gave to her children and grandchildren. She was a tireless booster of all her familys activities. She was also a great hockey fan who could trade stats with the most ardent of her younger male family members. Nadas wry humour and unfailing support will be dearly missed by her children, Vern and Joyce Rampton of Ottawa, Peter and Liz Rampton of Ladysmith, B.C., Marion and Mike Pernarowski of Dauphin and Bruce and Terri Rampton of Dauphin; her surviving siblings, Bill Wilkinson of White Rock, B.C. and Ross and Pat Wilkinson of North Bay, Ontario; her 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law Jim Fisher of Dauphin; sister-in-law Florence Rampton of Vancouver and many nieces, nephews and friends. Nada was predeceased by her husband; her parents; her stepmother Anna Wilkinson; sisters, Jean Simpson and Marion Fisher and sister-in-law Beth Wilkinson. Family and friends will celebrate her life and mourn her loss at a funeral service on Thursday, October 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dauphin First United Church. Donations in Nadas memory may be made to the Dauphin and District Community Foundation, P.O. Box 6, Dauphin, Manitoba, R7N 2T9.
