ANNIE DUECK It is with sadness and a deep sense of loss that the family of Annie Dueck announce that she died on October 14, 2000 at Concordia Hospital. Annie Dueck was born to David and Anna Balzer on September 12, 1917 in Marinovka, Russia. She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1926 and completed her early education in Gnadenthal, Manitoba. After her father died she left to work in Winkler. Annie became a Christian under the ministry of C.N. Hiebert and was baptized into the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church in July 1932. In 1934 she became a Canadian citizen. She attended Winkler Bible School from 1937 to 1940. Mother moved to Winnipeg and began cleaning homes. She married Henry Dueck, who to her, and our great loss, drowned in a fishing accident in 1945. Annie continued her work cleaning homes until the 1970s when her health was affected by her work. Later she was employed by Redekopp Dry Goods and Home Care. Annie lived in North Kildonan where she raised her two sons, Alvin and Dennis. She was active in the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church as Sunday School teacher and in the Mission Circle. She deeply loved the church and it is a love that has continued in her children and grandchildren. Annie travelled extensively. She regularly spent several months each winter in Palm Desert. As her son Alvin moved due to education and teaching positions, Annie travelled to see her family. She most enjoyed playing games with her family and her friends. She loved to walk and was proud of the fact that she had walked a marathon. Annie was a person filled with optimism for the future, love of others in need, a deep faith in Gods love and a passion for life. Annie loved and was loved by her two sons and their families. Dennis is married to Eleanor Dyck. Their daughter Tracy is married to Darren Enns and the couple live in Domain, Manitoba. Their son Mark is married to Lorrie Mellon and live in Winnipeg. Dennis is owner of a family business known as Dennys Meat Market. Alvin is married to Anne Heinrichs. Their son Kevin is married to Rhonda Lautt and the couple with their three sons live in Fresno, California. Their daughter Cheryl is married to Peter Smith and they live with their son in Los Angeles, California. Alvin teaches currently at Fuller Theological Seminary as a psychologist. On October 14, 2000 (Concordia Hospital) Annie Dueck died at the age of 83 years. She is predeceased by her husband Henry and her brothers Frank and David.
