Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER SZCZEPANSKI September 5, 1919 - October 16, 2000 Walter Szczepanski, aged 81 years, passed away after an illness at Seven Oaks General Hospital. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife Cecilia; his two sons, Richard (Vera) and Tony; and daughter Jean. Walter loved and enjoyed the company of his seven grandchildren: Paula, Julien, Jessie, Vanessa, Andrew, Bailey and Kash; his sister Genia (Peter) Orlukiewicz (Winnipeg) and sister Steffie (London, England). Walter was predeceased by his brother Michael prior to emigrating to Canada; his sister Mary (Winnipeg) and his sister Anne (Poland). Walter was born in Sokal, Poland to parents Florian and Emilia (nee Machewski). During the Second World War he and his sister, brother and niece Lonia were sent to labor camps in Siberia. Later he was assigned to a British Army unit to fight alongside allies in the Middle East and Italy. He was awarded several medals for his duty. Walter emigrated to Canada in 1948, where he met and married Cecilia. He began work as a bricklayer for CPR in 1948 and retired in 1978. He enjoyed gardening and meeting friends for coffee at Garden City. He was a generous man with a witty sense of humour. We all love and miss him. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, 846 Burrows Ave. on Thursday, October 19 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Henry Uczniak officiating. A Viewing will be held at the Church one half hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements - 586-8044.
