Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA (STECH) FIELD August 11, 1914 - October 15, 2000 Olga was predeceased by her parents, Catherine and Harry Stech; her sisters, Stella Richardson, Anne Stech and Dorothy Diaczun; her brothers, Bill Wysocki and Stan Stech; her nephew Glen Richardson (Vera) her son-in-law Jack Finch; her sister-in-law Olive Wysocki and by her husband Stan Field. She is survived by her brother Ernie Stech (Charlotte) her daughter Lorraine Finch; sons, Dennis (Landa) and Marvin (Mary) and grandchildren, David (Christie), Trevor (Tara), Brian (Tracy), Keith and Landen; brother-in-law Walter Diaczun; nieces, Karen Diaczun, Pam Diaczun (Kevin), Bev Burton (Don), Laurel Lachuta (Louie) and Janice Boux (John). Olgas marriage to Stanley was a treasure she cherished through all her days. She never tired of telling her grandchildren stories of their courtship, marriage, struggles, joys and of the great love they shared. Her life was remarkable for the unconditional acceptance she offered everybody and for her generosity of heart and pureness of spirit. She was a pretty good baseball player when she was a young woman and she frequently acted as catcher for sand lot teams. Attendance at Elmwood Giants games was a family event in the 1940s. Her kids have warm memories of family vacation trips to Lac Lu. She and Stan were great dancers in their day and enjoyed the Saturday night mixers at Drewrys and taking the Moonlight Special to Winnipeg Beach for the big band dancing. A typical picture of an evening in the Field livingroom in those days would include Olga sitting in an armchair with the family dog snuggled up to her feet, friends gathered around sharing tea and pastries and the radio tuned in to a Chicago station. As a teenager, Dennis went with Olga and Stan on adventures to Minneapolis, Chicago and Vancouver and had them all to himself. Olga lived in the family home on Carmen Avenue until 1996 and she spent the last few years residing at Kildonan Personal Care Centre waiting, a little impatiently, to join her beloved Stanley. With her devoted children by her side, Olga Field passed out of this world as gently as she lived her life. The family would like to thank the staff of Kildonan Personal Care Centre and as well the nurses and aides on the 3rd floor at Concordia Hospital. Their kindness and attentiveness was much appreciated. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family burial at Elmwood Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to The Humane Society in memory of Olgas devoted canine pals, Sparky, Sandy, Buddy, Blackie and Rocky.
