LENA VOGT (WILDE) 1914 - 2000 With deepest sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, on Saturday, October 14, 2000, at Middle Church Home of Winnipeg. Lena was born in Oakbank, Man., on August 1, 1914. She grew up on her familys farm with her parents Emma and August Wilde and her brother Julius. It was there that she learned the value of family, hard work and her love for adventure. On June 15, 1935, Lena married Charles John Vogt Jr. (Charlie) and together they enjoyed 58 loving fulfilling years. Lena was a devoted mother to her six children. Many happy summers were spent at the cottages at Boundary Park and Gimli where family and friends were always welcome. The door was always opened with a ready smile and dinner. As a couple, Lena and Charlie enjoyed traveling, square dancing, round dancing and bowling. They spent many happy winter months in Hawaii and later, Arizona. Lena was predeceased by the love of her life and companion, Charlie; parents Emma and August Wilde; brother Julius and son Wayne. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Carol (Merv) Wattinger, Brian Vogt, Diane (Alois) Fischer, Sharon (Dale) Romaniuk, Craig (Nancy) Vogt; daughter-in-law Carolyn Vogt (Glenn Peckover) grandchildren, Bruce (Sherry), Doug (Dulce), Susan, Lorraine, Gregory, Rolland (Carolyn), Kurt (Nicole), Anthony, Danny (Jennifer), Terra (Andre), Tyler and great-grandson Nathan. The funeral service to celebrate Lenas life will be held on Thursday, October 19, at 3:30 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Inkster and Sinclair with Pastor Don Engel officiating. At Moms request, cremation and interment will take place at a later date. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Doctors Ullyot, Haligowski and Grogan and the staff and volunteers of Middle Church Home for their compassionate care and support of our family. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations in Lenas memory may be made to the Middle Church Home of Winnipeg, 280 Balderstone Rd., West St. Paul, Man., R4A 4A6.
