Born November 17, 1900 in the Ukraine, she was one of a large family. Only four of the children reached adulthood. At the age of 25, Dora immigrated to Canada to start a new and better life. Her first real job was working as a housekeeper at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. A year later she married Peter Boyko and moved to Northern Manitoba to start their homesteading career. Later in life, Dora and the family moved to Stonewall, Manitoba to continue farming. Dora believed in her children having an education. She worked very hard so that they could go to school. Dora loved farm life. She enjoyed gardening, loved growing flowers and cared for all animals. No one was ever turned away from her table. Many enjoyed her home made breads, buns and soups. At age 84 she moved to Pincher Creek to be near her daughter and family. She was a good mother, an excellent Baba (grandmother) and a great Babka (great grandmother). Left to mourn her passing is her daughter Annie Drewniak (Mike) daughter-in-law Jean Boyko; four grandchildren; and in the Ukraine one brother Bill (Marie) numerous nieces and nephews. If desired, donations to Stars Ambulance would be appreciated by the family.
