Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALICE ELIZABETH FRASER (nee BEAMAN) Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and cousin died peacefully at her home on Monday October 16, 2000, in her 99th year. Alice was predeceased by her much loved, and loving husband Jack in 1973. As the eldest of eight children born to Manitoba pioneers William and Mabel Beaman (nee Hill), Alice learned early the joys and responsibilities of caring for others. She was devoted to her family and was constant in her care to four generations of people during her life, which spanned the 20th century. During her marriage, she and Jack lived in Winnipeg and Calgary where they made lifelong friends and collected wonderful memories. Wherever she lived, friends and family were always welcomed. During her lifetime Alice saw may wondrous things: horse drawn streetcars, Winnipegs first automobiles, the paving of Portage Avenue, the installation of electricity in their Elmwood home, two world wars and the depression, the advent of radio and television, air travel and a man on the moon. Alice was a tireless worker at St. Aidans Anglican Church, Niagara Circle; she also was an active member of Patricia Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; the White Shrine of Jerusalem; and the New Horizons Seniors Club at St. Aidans. Alice is survived by her daughter Judy Stephenson; granddaughter Elizabeth Stephenson; grandson Jim Stephenson, his wife Michaela and children Kyle and Kendra; and grandson John Stephenson and his wife Christine. Also surviving are several cousins, nephews and nieces, and her sister-in-law Elma Beaman of Vancouver. She was predeceased by her sisters Kathaleen and Ida; brothers Andrew, Edwin Beemond, Milton, Elmer and Howard; and hosts of friends. There will be a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 20, in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway with the Reverend Kenneth Turnbull officiating. Interment in St. Johns Cathedral Cemetery. The family sincerely thanks our friends from Manitoba Home Care who provided loving and respectful care to Alice during the past several years. Special thanks to Ana Marie, Averil, Joanne, Sofia, Yvette and Phyllis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends make donations in Alices memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8, or to a charity of choice.
